Lisa Olivia Munn grew up in Oklahoma City. Kimberly Schmid was born in Vietnam and is of Chinese origins, however her dad Winston Barrett Munn comes from an American family. The couple divorced when Olivia was two years old and she was raised by her father and stepfather who was a member of the United States Air Force. She was raised primarily in Tokyo, Japan, even though the family moved around a lot. At the time, she participated in various local theatre productions. Later she became a Japanese model. Olivia moved from her home in the United States back to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of being an actor. Following a handful of small parts and a few small roles, her career took off on a very promising turn after she secured the part of Mily Acuna on the Hawaii-lensed television show Beyond the Break (2006) as well as the part of Rob Schneider's receptionist Big Stan (2007). She hosts "The Daily Nut", "Formula D" and "The Formula D Podcasts" on G4. After the television series Beyond the Break, she is still surfing. Additionally, she holds a black belt in taekwondo. When she was just two years old, her mother married again however this time to an US Air Force member. The family has moved several times, but she was a majority of her youth in Tokyo Japan since that was the location where her father was stationed. She was a journalist in the University of Oklahoma and also minored Japanese drama, dramatic arts, and acting.
